Details This list entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 18 March 2024 to reformat the text to current standards 1449/0/10002 BILTON IN AINSTY WITH BICKERTON Bilton in Ainsty CHURCH STREET (east side) War Memorial Cross to west of St Helen's Church 11-FEB-02 GV II War memorial.Erected 1920.Portland stone standing on a limestone stepped base. Square plan with three stone steps to the base. Lower plinth has chamfered and moulded base. Upper faces have inscriptions including the names of all those locally who gave their lives during the Great War. Moulded top has small laurel wreath on each face. Upper cross has square sectioned shaft supporting figure of Christ. The whole topped with a gabled roof. This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 1 February 2017.
