Details BENEFIELD 1742/0/10006 War Memorial, St Marys Churchyard 10-JUN-02 GV II 1st World War Memorial. c1920. Ashlar. Finely carved memorial in the form of a churchyard cross. A square plinth stands on 2 octagonal steps. The plinth is inscribed with the 14 names of the Fallen from the parish. Above rises an octagonal shaft with carved crucifix on top. An unusual feature is the group of Mother and Child to the rear of Christ. This well-designed and finely carved War Memorial forms a group with the Church of St.Mary (qv). This List entry has been amended to add sources for War Memorials Online and the War Memorials Register. These sources were not used in the compilation of this List entry but are added here as a guide for further reading, 17 January 2017.
