Details COPYTHORNE BARTLEY SU 31 SW 4/16 Bartley Manor 8.10.59 GV II Country house. Late C18, with early and late C19 extensions. Walls of stucco, plinth, parapet with coping and moulded cornice, moulded eaves band to the wings. Hipped slate roof. Symmetrical north-west front elevation with three-storeyed main block and tall single-storeyed wings projecting forward, 3.5.3 windows. Sashes in exposed frames, the wings having blank panels (except for two) with upper panels of small height giving a two storeyed effect (the north side wing having been raised later as a two-storeyed unit): the ground floor of the main block has three double French windows within reeded architraves, set in a stone-flagged verandah with a leaded flat above a cornice and thin coupled.columns. The (south-east (garden)) elevation shows the south wing set back with three French windows within a (later) verandah; the main block is three storeys and attic three bays, with a central projecting unit of the late C19; the south side windows are now filled as panels but those on the north side are coupled sashes beneath cambered openings, the north side has an additional wing (of a lower two storeys) which continues as a single-storeyed service block around a service yard. In the yard there is a curious rectangular structure with a small opening above a central doorway with thick walls of cob and a thatched roof (a game store?).
