Details ASHWATER SX 39 NE 3/12 ASHMILL Ashmill Bridge II Road bridge over the River Carey. Circa late C18. Stone rubble. Two span bridge with a tall cutwater, a small flood span and stone rubble parapets. Slightly recessed segmental arch rings with keystones springs from plain imposts. At the west end the parapets have been rebuilt, at the east end the capping of stones laid on edge is visible beneath C20 concrete capping. Possibly on the site of "Essewater" bridge to which Bishop Stapeldon bequeathed 1 mark in 1326. This entry was subject to a Minor Amendment on 21 August 2017.
