History

The church was built between 1865 and 1868 by the architect John Middleton. It was refurbished by Temple Lushington Moore in 1907.

The interior is described by Harry Stuart Goodhart-Rendel as "a splendid example of ... complete Gothic self-assurance with Victorian Punch".
