Details SJ 39 SW WALLASEY ALFRED PIER DOCK (south side) Wallasey 3/38 Accumulator tower on south side of river entrance to - Alfred Dock - II Accumulator tower. Dock dates from 1860. Possibly by J.B. Hartley. Brick with rock-faced stone dressings. Square 2- stage tower. Stone base string course, corbelled cornice and coping to parapet; quoins to clasping buttresses. Windows to 1st stage have rock-faced jambs and ashlar pointed arches with round soffits; paired lights to west and east, single to north. South facade has entrance with similar arch and original timber doors. Top stage has round-headed lights with rock faced jambs and keys to ashlar lintels, paired to north and south, triple to east and west. Tower is of only 2 stages because most of shaft is below ground. Listing NGR: SJ3257090226 Legacy The contents of this record have been generated from a legacy data system.
