Once Britain had 8,000 watermills and 10,000 windmills; perhaps 80 of each survive in working order. These twenty are the most visit-worthy — most run open days, sell flour, and let you see the gearing in motion. Cromer Windmill, Heron Mill, Outwood Windmill and Foster's Mill are the highlights.
